Analysis of BOPP Matte Film for Lamination and High-Flatness BOPP Pearlescent Film for Printing

BOPP film is a commonly used material in the packaging field.  Among them, BOPP matte film for lamination and high-flatness BOPP pearlescent film for printing play crucial roles in different scenarios due to their unique properties. The following provides a detailed introduction from the aspects of characteristics, process, and applications.

BOPP Matte Film for Lamination

BOPP matte film is manufactured through a biaxial stretching process. The type specifically for lamination is mostly a single-sided matte, single-sided glossy structure. The matte side is specially treated to achieve light scattering, while the glossy side is suitable for gluing and lamination.  Common thicknesses range from 20-40μm, adapting to different lamination processes and packaging needs. Its core characteristic lies in its uniform and delicate matte effect, with a gloss level usually below 10%, reducing reflection on the packaging surface after lamination and enhancing the texture; it also possesses high tensile strength and good thermal stability, making it less prone to deformation during lamination. After lamination with materials such as paper and aluminum foil, it exhibits high peel strength and is not easily delaminated.

In production, the matte layer often contains matting agents such as silica. Through precise proportioning and process control, defects such as crystal points and white spots are reduced, ensuring a clean appearance after lamination. In lamination applications, the glossy side of the film allows for efficient gluing, and the matte side is compatible with post-processing such as hot stamping and UV varnishing. It is widely used in high-end food packaging, gift boxes, and electronic component packaging. For example, the outer layer of chocolate boxes, after lamination, combines an elegant appearance with protective properties, while electronic component packaging can enhance impact resistance and moisture resistance through lamination.

High-Flatness BOPP Pearlescent Film for Printing

This type of BOPP pearlescent film uses polypropylene as the base material, adding pearlescent masterbatch and produced through a biaxial stretching process. Strict production process control ensures the flatness of the film surface, reducing warping and wrinkles, and resulting in low roughness, providing a high-quality substrate for printing. Its thickness is generally 30-60μm, and the surface is corona treated to increase surface tension, ensuring uniform ink adhesion, high color reproduction, and clear and vibrant printed patterns. This film boasts excellent printability, compatible with various printing methods such as flexographic, letterpress, and offset printing, and is suitable for high-speed printing equipment.  The printed patterns are durable and resistant to peeling.  It also features waterproof, moisture-proof, and tear-resistant properties, along with good stiffness, facilitating subsequent processing such as die-cutting and bag making. In applications, it is commonly used for food and beverage labels, daily chemical product packaging, and advertising posters. For example, mineral water labels printed on this film can withstand humid environments and maintain clear patterns for a long time, while cosmetic packaging can leverage the pearlescent effect to enhance the product's premium feel.
