As plastic reduction and environmental protection become a global trend, PLA (polylactic acid) is gradually replacing traditional plastics, becoming a preferred choice in food packaging and disposable products due to its bio-based and biodegradable properties. Among them, milky white translucent 0.4mm PLA thermoforming sheet and bio-based compostable PLA white roll, with their combined advantages of thermoforming compatibility, environmental friendliness, and practical appearance, cover a wide range of applications, from food blister packaging to disposable containers, meeting user needs while reducing environmental impact. Today, we'll take a look at these two PLA materials and see how they balance functionality and sustainability.

Traditional plastics (such as PP and PET) suffer from their non-degradability and dependence on petroleum resources. PLA addresses these two issues, while also being functionally compatible with most low- and medium-temperature packaging applications, making it a cost-effective option for environmentally friendly solutions.

1. Environmentally Friendly: From source to waste, a green lifecycle.

PLA is bio-based, reducing oil dependence: PLA is made from renewable plants like corn and sugarcane. Each ton of PLA produced reduces CO2 emissions by approximately 68% (compared to petroleum-based plastics). Plant starch can be regenerated and recycled, eliminating the consumption of non-renewable resources.

Compostable, No Environmental Residue: Under industrial composting conditions (58°C ± 2°C, humidity ≥ 90%), PLA completely degrades into CO2 and water within 180 days, leaving no microplastic residue. Even in natural environments (such as soil and seawater), it slowly degrades (2-5 years), eliminating the long-term environmental pollution associated with traditional plastics.

LA materials focus on applications requiring low to medium temperatures, single-use packaging, and high environmental standards. They are particularly suitable for brands or regions with a clear focus on reducing plastic consumption, primarily in three key areas:

1. Food Packaging: A fully environmentally friendly process from blister packaging to film wrapping.

Food blister packaging (0.4mm PLA) Sheet material: Supermarket fruit trays (such as strawberry and blueberry trays), bakery blister packaging (such as macaron and cookie boxes), and auxiliary trays for cold meats. The milky white, translucent exterior showcases the food while protecting it from direct sunlight and spoilage. Its compostability makes it suitable for disposable applications, reducing plastic waste.

Food packaging film (PLA white roll): Snack packaging (such as individual pouches for nuts and cookies), fresh food cling film (replacing traditional PE cling film), and outer film for prepared meals. The flexible roll material is compatible with automated packaging lines and can be combined with PLA blister packaging to achieve "all-PLA packaging," enhancing a brand's environmentally friendly image. 2. Disposable Items: Replacing Traditional Plastics and Reducing Pollution

Disposable lunch boxes/containers (0.4mm PLA sheet): Takeout salad boxes, fast food boxes, and fruit boxes—suitable for cold foods or medium-low-temperature hot foods (≤50°C, such as warm porridge). After use, they can be composted with kitchen waste, addressing the pain points of takeout plastic lunch boxes, which are difficult to recycle and prone to contamination.
