Opaque white semi-transparent PBAT film used for lamination
PBAT film is a biodegradable and environmentally friendly material with promising applications in lamination due to its excellent film-forming properties and compostability. Here is a brief introduction:
PBAT Film Characteristics: PBAT, or polybutylene terephthalate, is an aliphatic-aromatic copolyester. It features good toughness, high tear strength, a wide processing temperature window, and excellent film-forming properties, making it ideal for blow molding, casting, and spray coating. It can be processed using various general-purpose plastic film-forming equipment. Furthermore, PBAT can be completely decomposed into carbon dioxide and water by microorganisms under specific conditions such as composting, seawater, or natural environments, making it an environmentally friendly compostable material.
PBAT Films for Lamination: PBAT films can be laminated with other materials to improve performance or meet specific needs. For example, composite functional films laminated with polypropylene carbonate (PPC) employ a three-layer structure with PBAT as the outer layer and PPC as the middle layer, using a grafted polymer of maleic anhydride and isocyanate as a binder between the layers. This type of composite film exhibits good flexibility, tensile strength, and biodegradability. Furthermore, PBAT can be blended or laminated with materials such as PLA to prepare films with different properties for use in food packaging and other fields.
Related Products and Applications: PBAT-based compostable plastic composites can be used in plastic films, paper coatings, shrink films, and cling films, featuring printability and heat-sealing capabilities. In food packaging, PBAT-based films can be modified through lamination or blending to improve their barrier properties, antibacterial properties, and other characteristics, thereby extending the shelf life of food products.
